COVID-19 and the plagues

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Exodus 12:13 (KJV)

Where ye are – The first quarantine was established by God during the time of a plague. He instructed all of Israel to stay in their homes while a plague ravished the land. And here we are today, on the verge of Passover, practicing quarantine to remove ourselves from a virus spreading throughout the land. How fitting.

God states, “where ye are.” But is that where you are? Are you at home during this memorial holy day? Or are you out and about acting as if nothing bad is going on around us?

When the Apostles approached Yeshua during this season, they asked him where to prepare the Passover.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

Matthew 26:17-19

Why did the Apostles ask this question? If Passover was meant to be in “church,” then surely Yeshua and his apostles would have just gone to the nearest synagogue to partake. The fact that they didn’t know where to go is because Yeshua didn’t have a home (Matthew 8:20). The custom was to observe this evening in the home with your own family and close friends. It has always been that way.

If you want to partake in Passover, start by sitting with your family in your home. Share with them the Word of God. Remind them the reason we are gathering during this holy day. We are not celebrating this day because Yeshua said to, no, we are celebrating this day because YHVH said to from the beginning. It was His instruction that said to remember this day forever.

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Exodus 12:14

We are to remember how God brought Israel out of bondage and redeemed His people from suffering. Remember how YHVH heard His people cry out and sent a man to lead them out of affliction.

Certainly, we can see Yeshua in this event. That is the relationship. God sent a Messiah to lead His people to redemption. Moses did this for Israel… so did Yeshua.

Do not skip the first part and jump to the later. You will miss everything. If we want to understand what Yeshua did, we need to understand what Moses did. If we want to truly grasp the grace of God found in Yeshua, than we need to grasp the grace of God found in Moses.

You can not sing the song from Revelation with only one.

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Revelation 15:3
