No More Sacrifices

13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
14 But in the place which the LORD shall choose […]

Deuteronomy 12:13-14 (KJV)

Choose – Let’s say, back in the early 2000’s, you crafted an item that you wanted to sell to the public, and the government agreed, but passed an everlasting law that you could only sell this product outside of Borders Bookstores. And the product had to be sold by a Borders Bookstore representative who was trained to sell it. This was good news, and you began to sell your products down at the nearest Borders.

But in December of 2010 Borders Bookstores closed down due to bankruptcy. There were no more locations allowed by law to sell your product. Even if you had a strong desire to continue these sales, you couldn’t. The government didn’t provide any stipulations to accommodate you.

This is the issue with sacrifices today. Man wanted a way to come back into relationship with the Creator, God provided the process of sacrifice, and with it, an everlasting law that dictated the location of these sacrifices — the Temple.

What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:

Today, we couldn’t offer any sacrifices even if we wanted to. The Temple does not currently exist in a physical location. It’s not because Yeshua did away with sacrifice.

But Yeshua was the ultimate sacrifice, and there are no more sacrifices for sin!

Yeshua most certainly represented spiritual aspects of every sacrifice, but not all sacrifices were about sin. There were free will sacrifices, thanksgiving sacrifices, drink offerings, etc. None of these necessarily had anything to do with sin. If someone wanted to bring a sacrifice to the Temple out of their own free will, this was a free will offering which had nothing to do with sin.

Despite what many might teach, Yeshua Himself taught about bringing offerings to the altar (Matthew 5:23-24). He didn’t teach opposition to the laws of sacrifice in any way. In addition, Apostle Paul continued to bring sacrifices to the Temple after Yeshua’s resurrection.

Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

Acts 21:26

Yeshua did not do away with sacrifices. It just so happens that there is no longer a location of God’s own choosing to offer up a sacrifice. So technically all the sacrificial laws can no longer be kept. Borders Bookstores have all closed down.

This doesn’t diminish Yeshua in any way. In fact it supports His teachings all the more!

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 5:18

Have heaven and earth passed away yet? Exactly.
