Sinful Nature: A Greek Paradigm

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Sinful nature – If it’s in the Bible, it must be true, right? Unfortunately, “sinful nature” is not what it means in Greek. You might also be surprised to learn that “sinful nature” is a Greek-rooted paradigm of the Hebrew yetzer hara.

Just Do It

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

Just – We can really open up a can of worms with this one. So let’s start with this: do you believe that it’s impossible to keep the law of God? Is that what you’ve been taught? Well then you need to take a look at this word, dikaios, which means “keeping the commandments of God”. Joseph was a dikaios man. He kept the law of God.
