Justified by Faith

know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

In – It’s such a small little preposition, isn’t it? But it carries a huge impact on how we interpret this verse. By reading the NIV verse above, we’d assume that justification comes by believing in Jesus. This is the same for the NASB, the Russian Synodal, NRSV, and others.
