The New Testament Page

The New Testament page – almost every Bible includes one, right? We need to know when the old stuff stopped and the new stuff began so we can be sure not to taint ourselves with the old, and reserve those only as children’s stories. Am I right?

This page doesn’t exist in many of my Bibles at home. It’s a page inserted by man, not by God. It doesn’t contain the words of God, or the teachings of Yeshua, and it’s not a letter written by the Apostles. It’s there to cause division based on the paradigm of those who put it together.

Imagine for a moment if that page wasn’t there. Imagine if we all just read the Bible as one complete set of books. Imagine if you started reading the Bible at the beginning, like all other books, and not at Matthew. I’m not saying it’s a necessity to read the Bible like all other books, but so many of us have forgotten the details of the first half, so when we get to the second half, we begin to misinterpret things based on our own paradigm. And we know that the Bible is written in different styles, some apocalyptic, some historical, some poetry, so we need to know what type of literature we’re reading in order to interpret it correctly.

But God is good. He must of anticipated this because check out what He does! In the last chapter of the very last book of the old testament, the prophet Malachi, these words are written… almost as a warning for humanity.

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Malachi 4:4 (KJV)

Remember the law of Moses which God Himself gave to him. Now keep reading the book… but don’t forsake the law. Fascinating!

And how does the new testament begin? What are the first words of the book of Matthew? It’s the genealogy of Yeshua. These very first words take us directly back to the old stuff, from where Yeshua’s life and example came. It’s as if God is reminding us to go back… go back and read the history therein. It’s your history too.

I know we like to think of Yeshua as instituting a new religion called Christianity, or as if He taught us new things, but I’d like to make a bold statement here. Yeshua never taught anything new. I can trace every teaching of Yeshua found in the new testament back to a similar teaching in the old testament. They go hand in hand. There’s a saying that goes like this: “The old testament is the new concealed. The new testament is the old revealed.” Think about it. It’s a powerful collection of books. Don’t forget to go back and read the first half – it will amaze you.

    In this article, you have expressed your disgust for this page that simply says, “The New Testament Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ.” What is it about “The New Testament Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ,” that you do not like?

    Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman. But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise. This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother. For it is written,“Rejoice, barren woman who does not bear; Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; For more numerous are the children of the desolate Than of the one who has a husband.”

    And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise. But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also. But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son,
    For the son of the bondwoman shall not be an heir with the son of the free woman.”
    So then, brethren, we are not children of a bondwoman, but of the free woman.

    Do you realize that the first, approximately 2,554 years or so, of the Old Testament there was no Mosaic law. The law only was in effect for about 1,446 years, From Moses until Christ. Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

    Do you not want to be partaker of the The New Covenant through Jesus Christ? Do you want to just be a jew? Why then do you dislike a page that simply says “The New Testament Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ?” Are you denying that there is a new testament? The page wasn’t inserted there by God, but neither was the names of the books or the chapters and verses. “The New Testament Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ,” was inserted into the Bible by God, throughout the entire Bible, both Old Testament Scriptures and New Testament Scriptures. It’s the central theme of the Bible. The Old Testament Scriptures point to it and the New Testament Scriptures record it’s fulfillment. You may not, but I thank God for “The New Testament Of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ!”

      So, let me clarify as I already did in the post, the trouble I have is with this single page causing division among the books in the Bible. It promotes separation. The books of the New Testament portion of the Bible are wonderful, God-inspired writings. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you’ll see I quote them often.

      In order to better understand the New Covenant, I recommend reading these: The Covenants and The Renewed Covenant. That will help give you some further insight into how the Hebrew worldview works in relation to covenants rather than our Greek mindedness.

      Correct me if I’m wrong, but the law existed prior to Moses in many examples. The Sabbath was something from Creation. Clean and unclean meats were discerned early on from before Noah’s time. Murder was something viewed as being wrong from the example of Cain and Able. I can go on, but I believe my point is made. Examples fill the early writings of Genesis where God’s laws were indeed evident.

      Yes the law was added because of transgressions. Even 1 John 3:4 states that sin is transgression of the law. Do you feel that the advent of Jesus has allowed you to abound in sin? Apostle Paul would say, “God forbid!”. So if you desire not to sin, then keeping the law is the means by which that happens.

      I find it interesting that you become so passionate about a page inserted by man… but have less passion for a law, which Paul states is Holy, Just and good, that was given by YHVH. Stop and reflect on that a moment. Try re-reading my post, and understand that I made no negative comment toward the books of the New Testament, just a page inserted by man.

      I noticed that you seem to have a problem with Jews as well. I hope your statement about being “just a Jew” was just out of anger and not wholly how you feel. Especially in the realization that Jesus himself was a Jew… and the fact that many Jews today accept Jesus as the Messiah and strive to share His gospel in the world. And another note, Hebrews 8 tells us that the New Covenant is only for the house of Israel and the house of Judah. That’s in the New Testament! Rather than trying to get these houses to conform to your worldview, maybe we should be thinking about that a bit differently. 🙂
